Malaysia-Langkawi

Imagine a country where you can instantly plug into the buzz of modern commerce and culture, walk amid some of the world’s tallest buildings, shop for the newest sophisticated fashions and electronic gadgets, or groove to the latest music and food at trendy night clubs and restaurants.

Now imagine a country where you can disconnect completely, traveling at a pace set by the sun and winds. Explore untouched beaches, rainforests and jungles so ancient and exotic that they are home to plants and animals found nowhere else on earth. Malaysia is that country.

Located in Southeast Asia just above the Equator, Malaysia distinctive multicultural mix of people–Malays, Chinese, Indians, Eurasians and indigenous tribes–mirrors its unique geography. The country is split into two halves. Malaysia occupies the southern half of the Malay Peninsula, bordered to the north by Thailand and to the south by Singapore. To the east separated by the South China Sea, lie the East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Saba along the north and northwestern coasts of Borneo (bordered by Indonesia).

On Malaysia’s northwest coast along the Malay Peninsula is the Langkawi archipelago in the Andaman Sea. Langkawi’s islands offer plenty of protected anchorages in all wind and sea conditions. The northern beaches and bays are among the most beautiful. Langkawi is a beautiful cruising area, dotted of small islands and high cliffs and numerous of great spots and excursions like swimming in a freshwater lake, viewing the wildlife sanctuary with sea eagles and monkeys.

On northeastern coast of the main island of Langkawi, the famous Hole in the Wall whose entrance is a gap between the towering cliffs and the mangroves, which opens to form a spectacular, large, enclosed, circular anchorage. Exploring the many mangrove creeks and limestone caves by dinghy is a must.

The nearby Butang archipelago features approximately 50 spectacular, mostly uninhabited islands. Located in neighboring Thailand, these islands form part of the Tarutao National Marine Park. These granite islands are cloaked in lush rainforests and ringed with white sand beaches and coral reefs. This is an exceptional cruising area for good snorkeling and diving on well-preserved coral.

The islands of Langkawi and Butang will serve as your gateway to unspoiled paradise and your unforgettable sailing adventure with Dream Yacht Charter.
